It was an emotional night for Scotty McCreery Wednesday – and now that he’s won season 10 of American Idol, he’s looking toward the future.
Still, it wasn’t that long ago that he took a break from baseball and showed up at that audition hoping to just make it into the competition. Now McCreery admits he could have never predicted the outcome of the competition.
“I miss those days back on the mound and throwing some games, but I’m ready for my new life,” he says. “It’s been a wild ride and we’ll see where it takes me.”
He swears baseball will always be a part of his life, but lets face it, superstardom is a pretty terrific substitute. Besides, he’s got plenty of new memories from his year chasing his music dream that should keep him from missing sports too much.
“The moment when Ryan (Seacrest) said that I was the winner, that was such an amazing moment I’ll never forget,” he gushes. “All the memories that I’ve made in this competition, they were all running through my head today. That’s pretty wild.”
Next stop – the American Idol tour – all while beginning work on his first album.
