Having a Hollywood-themed party for Halloween? What’s on the menu could be just as important as the costume, if you plan carefully.
How about a number of fancy dishes from the stars that have taken their last curtain call?
Frank Decaro (The Daily Show movie critic) has compiled recipes from a who’s who from Hollywood’s golden era and added them to a convenient book for easy planning.
The Dead Celebrity Cookbook features nearly 150 recipes from stars like Charlton Heston, Johnny Carson and Lucille Ball.
The chapters are cleverly designed with a bit of gallows humor and a small bio on the dead celeb. So, you might find recipes like Alfred Hitchcock’s Quiche Lorraine, Janet Leigh’s Giteau Dore and Anthony Perkins’s Tuna Salad in A Psycho Shower section, while Jerry Orbach’s Pan Fried Steak and Peter Falk’s Pork Chops show up in Watching the Detectives (Cook) chapter.
Still, you won’t find a spicy dish from the recently departed contemporary stars like Amy Winehouse, but it’s probably a good bet she didn’t do too much of her own cooking – in the kitchen – anyway.
The Dead Celebrity Cookbook is already in stores and sells for about $25.
