Curb Your Enthusiasm‘s Jeff Garlin has been added to a panel moderated by Harry Shearer and including Bob Odenkirk and George Schlatter at the American Cinematheque tribute of Ernie Kovacs August 27.
A career-spanning 6 DVD box set The Ernie Kovacs Collection on Shout! Factory has already far surpassed all expectations in terms of press, sales and awareness.
In light of this success, Kovacs-centric events are being planned through 2013 across the U.S., and the stage is set to bring Kovacs back to the mainstream.
Kovacs used the medium of television like none other, shaping the new medium’s visual possibilities rather than simply putting a picture to a popular radio show.
Audiences had never seen anything like the cigar-wielding charmer and his offbeat humor rippled across generations. Today, Kovacs is known as Television’s Original Genius.
Wickedly funny but not offensive, Kovacs’ unique humor and flair for improvisation influenced TV funnymen from Johnny Carson and Monty Python to David Letterman, Pee Wee Herman and Saturday Night Live.
