In Theaters – July 22nd, 2011

You know it’s summer when the blockbusters begin rolling out and Captain America: The First Avenger is an excellent example of a big, flashy, fast-paced popcorn flick.

The movie follows the early days of the Marvel Universe – and yes, Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) has volunteered for an experimental program to become the Uber-strong crime fighter – Captain America.

Captain America then hooks up with Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) and Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) to defeat the villainous HYDRA organization, which is headed up by the ultimate bad guy, Red Skull (Hugo Weaving).

This is a modern twist on an early superhero – that also somehow manages to be a nostalgic throwback to classic movie heroes.

If Friends with Benefits seems similar that’s because it was just a handful of months ago that No Strings Attached, starring Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher hit theaters with the same theme.

This time around, Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake portray the good friends who believe that adding non-committal sex to their time together won’t change anything.

Naturally, they learn that there really is no free ride and the buddies must deal with their emerging emotions.

There is something to be said, however, for the casting – and Kunis and Timberlake certainly seem to have a strong chemistry.

KIM KARDASHIAN: ‘PEOPLE DON’T UNDERSTAND THE PRESSURE ON ME TO LOOK PERFECT’

KEEPING UP WITH THE KARDASHIANS -- Season: 6 -- Pictured: Kim Kardashian -- James White/E! Entertainment

When Kim Kardashian stepped out on July 19 with red marks on her calves, bloggers were quick to point out the strange spots — which looked like bug bites — covering the reality star’s legs.

But Life & Style has exclusively learned that the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star actually suffers from psoriasis.

“I’d heard of it before because my mom has always had it, but she didn’t have red flaky dots all over her,” says Kardashian, 30, about the skin condition.

Mom Kris Jenner was diagnosed with psoriasis when she was 30, too. “There’s a large genetic component,” Dr. Jordana S. Gilman, assistant clinical professor of dermatology at Mount Sinai Medical Center in NYC, tells Life & Style.

But Kardashian, who makes an enviable living showing off her skin during photo shoots, worries about the diagnosis. “People don’t understand the pressure on me to look perfect,” she says. “When I gain a pound, it’s in the headlines, so imagine what the tabloids will do to me when they see all these spots.”

Not to worry — Dr. Gilman tells Life & Style that Kardashian‘s condition is completely manageable. “There many treatment options, ranging from creams to pills to injectable medications,” she says. “If managed properly, it can be kept under control and she can lead a perfectly normal life.”

Kardashian will learn all about her condition on the July 24 episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians on E!

LARRY DAVID TALKS DATING, DIVORCE, SEINFELD AND WEALTH WITH ‘ROLLING STONE’

Larry David on the cover of the 'Rolling Stone' courtesy Beth Furtwangler/Wenner Media

In the new issue of Rolling Stone, Larry David says he’s not usually an easy profile subject: “There’s nothing that reflects me,” he says. “I’m unreflectable!”  He says that his Curb Your Enthusiasm character is “my version of Superman. The character really is me, but I just couldn’t possibly behave like that. If I had my druthers, that would be me all the time, but you can’t do that. We’re always doing things we don’t want to do, we never say what we really feel, and so this is an idealized version of how I want to be. As crazy as this person is, I could step into those shoes right now, but I would be arrested or I’d be hit or whatever.”

Other highlights from the story (which also includes interviews with the cast of Curb and David‘s ex-wife Laurie):

David disagrees with Howard Stern, who found it shallow to date women who were attracted to his fame: “Why else would somebody approach me? Who’s going up to a bald guy, an old bald guy? Nobody! If I wasn’t on television, who’s coming up to me? People would run from me, are you kidding? If I tried to flirt with a woman and she didn’t know who I was, she would run away.” He pauses. “And who’s not shallow, by the way?”

David is sick of people asking about his wealth – though he ultimately understands why they do. “I don’t have anything near what I’m reputed to have,” David says. “My wife got half of it, the whole thing is ridiculous, and yet people are obsessed with the fact that I’ve made millions of dollars [from Seinfeld’s] syndication . . . It’s okay for all these other people you’ve interviewed to have it, but not me? Jerry’s not getting asked about how much money he has. Only I am. It comes down to, ‘Jerry deserves it, he starred in it, you got lucky!’ . . . It doesn’t suit me, that’s why, it’s uncharacteristic for a person with my personality to have it, that’s what’s askew, right? Something’s off, and I agree with you. I shouldn’t! It’s an anomaly!”

The interview appears in the upcoming issue of Rolling Stone. More information and video at www.rollingstone.com.

“Love in the Wild” Is Trial By Fire

LOVE IN THE WILD -- Episode 104 "Day 1" -- Pictured: (l-r) Erica Scherle, Steele Dewald -- Photo by: Trae Patton/NBC (10:00 p.m. ET/PT, NBC)

Forget the primping, there is no time for that while trying to find Love in the Wild (Wednesdays, 10:00 p.m. ET/PT, NBC).

At least that’s what Erica Scherle tells EntertainmentHeartbeat.com about her experience surviving the reality show.

According to Scherle, the contestants were told nothing – other than to pack their bags – and each had to take a big leap of faith in getting on the plane to destinations unknown.

“[We had] no clue where we were going,” she admits. “We wound up in Costa Rica. If you look in the first shot, I’ve got a barf bag in my hand as we’re landing. So, it goes from glamour to ugly pretty quickly.”

So, why do it? Well, that’s a question Scherle’s yet to understand.

“I keep asking myself the same thing. ‘Who would want to go on that show,’” she laughs. “It was unexpected and I haven’t – and would not – do anything like it. I guess it’s just the curiosity of the risk and it’s the one time in my life that I’ve just given it all up and gone for it.”

Scherle confesses, despite the risk, she’s glad she participated.

“I had a blast,” she begins. “[They were] experiences of a lifetime. Meeting people for the first time and [making] relationships and friendships that last a lifetime, too…as cliché as that sounds.”

The show is ultimately a competition and despite the risks, that fact was never far from her thoughts.

“When you’re running and jumping through these adventures and you’re all go, go, go…fast paced…you’ve got to place well so you’ve got to choose your partner well or have a better chance of choosing who you actually want,” she insists. “With that importance in the back of your mind, plus your interaction with who you’re beside – whether it’s love, hate or ‘Let’s just get through this,’ that go, go, go mentality really gives way to just getting over your fears. You see the snakes and you have to react – and you just have to keep going.”

The prize is spending the night at the Oasis, which makes it all worthwhile for the contestants – depending on who is there with you enjoying the pampering.

‘MEN OF A CERTAIN AGE’ CANCELED

Scott Bakula

Critically acclaimed, Peabody-winning, twice Emmy-nominated (for Andre Braugher), Men of a Certain Age got canceled by TNT.

“TNT has been proud to be a part of Men of a Certain Age for two seasons,” TNT said in a statement. “While the show has featured great storytelling and impeccable performances, the audience simply hasn’t built to the point where we can continue the series.”

Ray Romano, Scott Bakula, and Andre Braugher starred in the dramedy that couldn’t attract anyone of any age, much less the precious 18-34 commercial-loving TV addicts.

“This was an extremely difficult decision for us,” TNT continued. “We wish Ray Romano, [co-creator/showrunner] Mike Royce and the terrific cast and crew of Men of a Certain Age the very best and look forward to exploring new programming possibilities in the future.”

We’ve got 8 weeks of Ghost Dog Addy video with nobody (besides Mike Cartel) over 26-years old in it.  And it’s going to TNT tomorrow.

JENNIFER LOPEZ IS (SUPPOSEDLY) DEVASTADED

Jennifer Lopez in 2004 at the start of her third marriage

in 2004, friends were invited to a party thrown by Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony.  As the guests were herded to the lawn they were (happily) shocked to find that they were witnessing their hosts’ wedding.  Three days ago, Lopez and Anthony‘s friends were again thunderstruck to hear that the couple had announced the end of their marriage.

But those closest to Lopez, 41, and Anthony, 42, tell Us Weekly that the couple had been struggling for years.

Singer-actress Lopez “tried everything she could to make it work,” one source close to the star tells Us. “They went to marriage counseling. She was patient and loving and did everything he wanted her to…She exhausted all the possibilities.”

“They had a very up and down marriage,” adds a second source of the couple, parents to 3-year-old twins Max and Emme. “They would get into heated, horrible fights. Then, they would also go through times where they were extremely loving and romantic…It was a roller coaster with them from the beginning.”

“She is devastated,” the first source says, “Absolutely beside herself. This is someone she dedicated a long time to, and that she truly loved. ”

Besides being a single mother now, Lopez will have an awful lot to keep her busy,  including a new Kohl’s clothing line, a new romantic comedy What To Expect When You’re Expecting (next month) and, likely, a return engagement to American Idol.

BETTY WHITE LATEST CELEBRITY INVITED TO THE MARINE CORPS BALL

Watchable at every age - Betty White with her own TV show in 1954

Betty White has been invited to the November Marine Corps Ball by a sergeant some 70 years her junior.

“I would like to take Betty White, she’s funny, she’s sweet, she’s mature, she’s the all-around the perfect women,” Sgt. Ray Lewis says in his YouTube video. “I’m fun… I’m going to be performing. I think I could make her laugh, I think she could make me laugh. I think we could laugh together. It’s gonna be great.”

Mila Kunis had agreed to accept an invitation from a marine to the Ball, and then Friends With Benefits co-star Justin Timberlake also accepted a request to appear.

No word yet on whether Ms. White‘s schedule will permit her to attend the event at the request of the gentlemanly sergeant, but if she can, what celebrity would dare decline a future invitation?  And if it helps their client’s publicity, agents will certainly push their charges in that direction.

Of course stars don’t know that they’d actually have a better time with the Marines than they do with the usual Hollywood soirée.
