“Wipeout” Moves to Tru TV as Host Jill Wagner Moves Onto Acting

WIPEOUT co-host Jill Wagner - (ABC/JEFF SAMARIPA)

Jill Wagner is making the transition back to acting after hosting the wacky game show Wipeout since 2008. Still, she’s pleased that the series has been picked up by Tru TV for another round of airings.

“I definitely think it’s a good place for it. I know that it’s a growing network. Wipeout is pretty much their first acquisition and [Tru TV will benefit] just because of the demographics they’re going to acquire because of this,” she points out.

Wagner has been doing double-duty this year starring on MTV’s supernatural thriller Teen Wolf and hosting Wipeout. Now, since announcing her exit from Wipeout, the actress is back banging on production doors…with a bit of professional help.

“I’m hustling,” she acknowledges. “I just got through with a lot of meetings and I am definitely in the swing of things. I got an agent for the first time, which is odd because I never really had an agent before.”

Though that seems unfathomable, the Wagner insists an agent really wasn’t necessary for her until now.

“I was very proactive about my career and I was out there,” she points out. “I think this is really going to help me a lot with having a really good agent this time and see where I can go with that. I’m ready ‘cause I’ve worked! I put in the man-hours, now I just need somebody to believe in me.”

Her first pro gig was working with Ashton Kutcher on his jokester reality series Punk’d and because of that experience, Wagner is confident that Kutcher will be a great addition to the cast of Two and a Half Men now that Charlie Sheen has been booted off the sitcom.

“I don’t think they could have made a better choice,” she gushes. “I think it’s going to add a whole, new dimension to the show. He’s got like 10-20-million people now following him on Twitter. So, I think that it works both ways. He’s going to be great for the show and the show’s going to be great for him. They can’t go wrong. I’m so happy for him. I have nothing but love for Ashton.”

Wipeout rebroadcasts Fridays, 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. ET on Tru TV.

Teen Wolf airs Mondays, 10:00 p.m. ET on MTV.

In Theaters – September 16th, 2011

Gotta love that Ryan Gosling. He’s an actor who is equally at home in a thoughtful drama like Blue Valentine as he is in an action-adventure like Drive. And in Drive, Gosling plays a Hollywood stuntman who moonlights as a getaway driver, who discovers that a contract has been put on him after a heist gone wrong. Naturally, he tries to out run and outmaneuver the gangsters tailing him.

This nail-biter of a pic co-stars Carey Mulligan, Bryan Cranston, Albert Brooks, Christina Hendricks and Ron Perlman.

I Don’t Know How She Does It stars Sarah Jessica Parker as Kate Reddy, a finance exec who is the chief head of household for her husband and two children. Of course, Kate is working over time to balance all aspects of her life.

The comedy also stars Pierce Brosnan and Christina Hendricks (whose career is currently on fire).

If you’re going to remake a flick, it’s probably not a smart idea to remake an action film that legendary action director Sam Peckinpah originally helmed. But, tossing caution to the wind, Director/Writer Rod Lurie has attempted to do just that with this updated version of Straw Dogs. Why? Who knows?

This version takes place in the deep South rather than England and instead of Dustin Hoffman and Susan George, the pic stars James Marsden and Kate Bosworth.

Watch the original.

If you are a fan of The Lion King, you’re going to probably love The Lion King 3D. It’s the same great story, filled with memorable and yes, Oscar-winning tunes from Elton John and Tim Rice. However, for the re-release Disney has turned their animated take on Hamlet into a 3D adventure.

DWTS KYM JOHNSON RETURNS DANCING AFTER PARALYZING INJURY

Kym Johnson courtesy Life & Style magazine

Dancing With the Stars dancer Kym Johnson opens up for the first time about the fall that nearly ended her career.

After eight seasons on DWTS, a risky lift with her partner, NFL star Hines Ward, landed her in the ER with a torn tendon and sprained spinal cord.

“I remember thinking that this is the end — I may never be able to dance again,” Kym tells Life & Style in an exclusive interview. “I couldn’t feel my arms.”

Indeed, Kym learned that if she had fallen at a slightly different angle, she could have been paralyzed.

Kym turned to her doctor, who forbade her from dancing and started her on an exhausting rehabilitation regimen including painful physical therapy, hyperbaric chamber sessions and ultrasound therapy.

Now, Kym is completely healed, and she’s back for the new season of DWTS, which premieres on Sept. 19 on ABC. Partnered with David Arquette, Kym tells Life & Style that she’ll be more cautious this time around: “Now, I’m aware of my health and will never do anything stupid like that again.”

HITCHCOCK’S LOST “THE WHITE SHADOW” FOUND AND PLAYING AT THE ACADEMY

Alfred Hitchcock's 'The White Shadow' from 1924

The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences will present the American re-premiere of the first three reels of The White Shadow, the 1924 movie thought to be the earliest surviving feature film work of Alfred Hitchcock, on September 22 at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.

Following the screening, Oscar®-winning actress Eva Marie Saint, who starred in Hitchcock’s North by Northwest, will offer a description of the remaining scenes which are still lost. Michael Mortilla and Nicole Garcia will provide live musical accompaniment on piano and violin.

The tinted print of The White Shadow, an atmospheric melodrama starring Betty Compson in a dual role as twin sisters, one angelic and the other “without a soul,” was discovered during the National Film Preservation Foundation’s second round of research to identify prints of early American films held at the New Zealand Film Archive.

It was among the many silent-era movies salvaged by New Zealand projectionist and collector Jack Murtagh. After Murtagh’s death in 1989, the highly flammable nitrate prints were sent to the New Zealand Film Archive for safekeeping by Tony Osborne, Murtagh’s grandson.

The White Shadow is among the “lost” films from the New Zealand Film Archive being preserved and accessed through the five major American film archives that are collaborating with the NFPF on the project.

This will be the Academy’s latest presentation in a screening series of archival rediscoveries unspooling under the banner Lost and Found.
